Frequently asked questions

Absolutely – this is becoming more popular as couples look to combine their ceremony and honeymoon into one unforgettable experience. There are so many ways to approach this idea, so please take a look at the Destination Weddings page for lots more detail. Contact me direct to discuss your plans and destination, and I will provide you with a specific quote based on your intended location.
Not at all. A bespoke Celebrant ceremony is not restricted to any culture, faith or religion. However, if you wish to add a religious aspect to your ceremony, even a simple prayer, blessing or hymn, that’s fine – remember, there are no restrictions!
Your ceremony is completely bespoke – and you are limited only by your imagination. if you wish to have a friend or family member read a poem then that’s a lovely way of bringing close people into your ceremony.
Usually about 30 minutes, longer if you add symbolic elements and readings, songs etc.
Yes! You can do this yourselves, with or without my help. You will have unlimited phone and email contact from me throughout the whole process to help if you find you need it.
It’s important that you are comfortable and relaxed on your wedding day, so if you prefer you can ‘repeat after me’, or simply say the words ‘I do’ after I’d read them for you – this can be decided on much nearer the date – see how you feel.
Yes. There are many beautiful ideas and possibilities that can be woven into your ceremony. Celebrant ceremonies often include symbolic elements such as a Celtic Handfasting, a Sand ceremony, Unity Candles, pebbles, bubbles, ring warming – or your own ideas, just chat to me about it. Your ceremony is all about the two of you and your own unique style, so you can make it exactly as you wish.
Included in my fee is an initial meeting, a further ‘all about the two of you’ meeting, and a rehearsal (if this is both feasible and requested – however, I would always advise it) at the venue a few weeks before the date. If the location is more than 35 miles from my home, then this is one of the items that would incur an extra cost for fuel using the HMRC guidelines for mileage.
We all go through changes during our lives and have a need to mark these events and milestones, and therefore I create and conduct many different types of ceremony. Whether it be for a wedding, a new arrival, or the sad loss of a loved one. Each ceremony is bespoke and so will fit in with your personal style and beliefs.
I am based in the North West of England, so work a great deal in this area, but I also travel across the UK, USA and Europe, so distance is not an issue. I am a legally registered officiant in 46 states across America, so if it’s a destination wedding you’re after, take a look at the page for more details.
That’s no problem; I am used to having Skype or Zoom meetings across the globe, so these can be set up at a mutually convenient time. Remember that you may need to register your marriage where you live as you may not be ‘resident’ in the UK long enough beforehand to comply with UK law – more on that when we speak.
